  • Founder & Director

    The VFP is directed by Dr. Edward Benoit, III, Associate Director & Associate Professor of the School of Library & Information Science at Lousiana State University. Benoit received an MA in History, MLIS, and PhD in Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His research focuses on participatory and community archives, non-traditional archival materials, archival education, and climate change.

  • Collaborator

    Dr. Allan A. Martell served as a post-doctoral researcher on the VFP from 2020-2022. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Information and Library Science at Indiana University. Martell received a BA in Social Communications at Central American University; a MS in Digital Media at the Georgia Institute of Technology; and a PhD in Information at the University of Michigan. In his work, Martell explores how societies negotiate social memories of violence, the role of information curation in shaping such memories, and possible frameworks to promote more critical nuanced memories.

  • Graduate Collaborator

    Daena Jean Carrillo served as the VFP Graduate Assistant from 2021-2022 as she pursued her doctoral degree. She received her MLIS and CARST degrees in 2019 from LSU SLIS, and has worked on projects with the Breman Museum and as a project archivist with the Atlanta History Museum.
